Random video chat with no download
There’s no NextFace app, on purpose. The whole thing runs in the browser you already have, on a phone or a laptop. Nothing to install, nothing to update, nothing taking up space.
On your phone
Using NextFace on a phone without an app
- 01
Open nextface.chat in your browser
Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android, or whatever you normally use. The site adapts to the screen.
- 02
Tap Start, then allow camera and mic
The browser asks once. Say yes and the permission is remembered for next time.
- 03
Optional: add it to your home screen
From the browser’s share or menu button, choose “Add to Home Screen”. You get an icon that opens straight into NextFace. Still no download.
Why there’s no app
An app has to be found, downloaded, installed, opened, and then kept up to date. For a service whose entire promise is “tap once and talk to someone”, every one of those steps is friction, and most of them are reasons to stop. The browser skips all of it. The address is the app.
There’s a second reason. Random video chat apps come and go from the app stores, and when one disappears, so does everyone’s way in. A website doesn’t have that problem. If you can open a page, you can use NextFace.
What you get in the browser
The full service. Random matching, one person at a time. A Next button that keeps the people you skip away for a while. The option to switch your camera off mid-call and carry on by voice, to blur your picture, or to mute. Messages with someone after a chat. Reporting and blocking from their profile. No sign-up form, because an account is created for you when you arrive. None of that is “lite”; it’s simply where the product lives, and the home page walks through all of it.
Phone or laptop, same thing
On a laptop you get a bigger picture and a proper keyboard for messages. On a phone you get the camera you already carry everywhere. The matching and the controls are identical. Some people start on the laptop at a desk and switch to the phone on the sofa; the site doesn’t care.
A note on permissions
The first time you tap Start, the browser asks for access to your camera and microphone. That prompt comes from the browser, not from NextFace, and it’s the only permission the site needs. You can revoke it any time from the browser’s site settings. If you said no by accident, our connection guide shows how to turn it back on.
FAQ
Running NextFace without an app
Do I need to install anything?
No. NextFace runs inside the browser you already have. Open the page, tap Start, allow the camera and mic when the browser asks, and that’s it.
Does it work on a phone without an app?
Yes. On iPhone and Android, open nextface.chat in Safari or Chrome and it works the same way as on a laptop. You can add it to your home screen from the browser menu if you want an icon, but you don’t have to.
Which browsers work?
Any current version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. If your browser can make a video call on another website, it can run NextFace.
Is the no-download version limited compared to an app?
There is no app, so there’s nothing to compare against. Everything NextFace does, it does in the browser: matching, Next, camera off, blur, mute, messages after a chat.
The browser is the app.
Nothing to install. One tap and you’re talking to someone new.
Free to start. 18+ only.
